Difference Between UV, RO, And UF Water Purifiers
Most of us are using the water purifiers to get the pure water. Some of us might be using RO purified water, some UV purified water, and some UF purified water. They all work on different technology but are used for the same purpose. For us, it is very important to know that which water purifier technology is the best one. So, that we can get the pure water. Also, we need to look at other factors as well, like which water purifier can provide us water without consuming much energy. Among these, which purifier needs low maintenance, which one can give pure water without wasting much water. So, let’s know about these water purifiers and the comparisons between them. So, that we can then decide which one to buy.
Ultraviolet Water Purifier
The Ultraviolet Water Purifier can be helpful in purifying the soft water which has some impurities present in it. The UV water purifier uses the UV Radiations to clean the water. The impure water is exposed to UV radiations by passing it through the UV Purifier tube. For the purification of water, UV Purifier requires electricity. It kills the pathogens, bacteria, and other such contaminants present in the water. But the dead bacteria or dead pathogens are not removed from the water.
Reverse Osmosis Water Purifier
With the help of RO Purifier, the hard, impure, and contaminated water can be converted into soft, pure, and drinkable water. The RO works by passing the impure water using a pump for putting pressure on water. The forced water then passes through the membrane which is a semipermeable membrane having micropores. The process of RO is possible only with the help of electricity. As electricity not just helps in the functioning of RO, but also in removing the dissolved impurities from the water.
Ultra-Filtration Water Purifier
The UF water purifier which is also known as a gravity-based water purifier works without electricity. The purifier has a threaded membrane with the help of which the impurities like bacteria, microorganisms, solid particles can be removed. It can work fine with the normal pressure of pipe water. To make sure that the water is drinkable, one needs to check the dissolved impurities level in the water. As it is not possible to get the dissolved solids out of the water during purification of water.
RO vs UV vs UF
In terms of giving completely pure water, so RO water is the best as it removes all the impurities be it bacteria, chemicals, dissolved solids or salts. However, UV and UF water purifiers are not being able to remove the dissolved salts or solids from the water. Comparing the electricity part, RO utilizes more electricity in comparison to UV, and UF water purifier does not require electricity. Coming to the maintenance part, RO Purifier requires the lowest maintenance in compare to UV and UF Purifier. While UV requires the highest maintenance among all the three. The wastage of water in RO Water Purifier is high, while in UV purifier it is low and in UF, there is no wastage. Looking at these factors, the more feasible thing to do is to buy a purifier with all the 3 technologies.
